My dream holiday

What do I want to do?

When I graduate from school I would like to take a gap year and travel around the world. I love the adventure and excitement of travelling abroad. Every day is a surprise. There are certain ‘world tickets’  these plane tickets are cheaper than booking random plane tickets. However there are some conditions to it. At least you have to visit the United States and one country of each continent.

Who will I be travelling with?

Hopefully I have a boyfriend with the same passion for travelling when I am eighteen years old, otherwise I would like to go with my best friend(s). I absolutely don’t want to travel with my parents because my father would take the lead and my mother isn’t really into travelling; she'd rather stay at home!

What places do I want to visit?

Europe:

Sagrada familia in Barcelona

When my exams are finished it will be at the end of spring, the ideal time to visit countries in the south of Europe like Spain. I have never been to Spain before so I really want to explore this country; the museums, famous buildings, meet nice people, etc. Then after visiting Spain I’d go to Moldova (a really poor and traditional European country) because this country is so unknown and authentic. Maybe I’d visit Moldova's
neighbouring countries like Romania or Bulgaria.

Asia:

In Asia I’d like to go to Russia (Moscow) and take the Trans Siberian Express to Mongolia. I've never been to Mongolia before and I'm really curious what the country is like because it's not a well-known country. From the pictures I have seen so far the scenary looks really beautiful and life looks really tough for the people in the Gobi desert.

Night in Tokyo
Afterwards I would like to search for tigers in East-India and maybe I’d visit an old friend (literally old!) in Birma and to make the cultural shock even more complete I’d go to Tokyo (although I’ve been there before) to work for a while to earn some extra money.

Oceania:

New Zealand

By this time I think it would be winter (on the northern hemisphere) so I’d go south! I always wanted to visit New Zealand; the country which is next on the list.

Africa:

4 bushmen in Namibia
In Africa I would really like to visit Madagascar, but this is a really expensive country, so I think it’s more likely I’d visit Namibia and South Africa then move on to South America!
In Namibia I would love to go hunting with the bushmen! My father used to tell me stories about his adventures in Namibia. He received hunting lessons from the bushmen but he wasn't all that good at it.

Cape Town (South Africa)

North and South America:

Brasilia is the first city I’m going to visit; from here you can make nice excursions to the Amazon rainforest and the city Brasilia itself is famous for its architecture. Then I’ll fly to Ecuador and go to the Galapagos islands to look for its unique tortoises, iguanas, etc.

To round off my dream journey I would probably fly to America (Las Vegas), go into a casino just to experience what it's like (Is it really like in the movies???) and then fly home.

If I could I would also have visited some of the islands in the Pacific Ocean and Easter Island, but the connection between these islands is really bad. (The islands were colonies of different countries so you can't just fly from one island group to the neighbouring islands which is actually really weird and unpractical.)
Of course nothing is certain yet and I don’t think this dream holiday is very plausible (too many countries for just a gap year and too expensive). But then again, it wouldn’t be a dream holiday if it would be plausible, wouldn’t it???
